About that...
Hello,
My name is Andy and I like to find cool things to see, hear, and do.
Right now, I'm working with PlayStation Store to help people find the right games, movies, and TV shows to play and watch by using the powers of curation and editorial context on a digital storefront.
I've also gotten into photography recently to capture some moments for posterity and this site will have some of my favorite photos displayed. Who knows, maybe something will come out of this hobby someday.
Life story stuff if I had you at "Hello"
As a kid, I remember spending evenings listening to an alternative-rock radio station called KROQ in Southern California with a blank cassette tape at the ready because I wanted to record the best new songs so I could play them for my friends and me whenever I wanted. I didn't know this at the time, but turns out that doing this on a larger scale is actually a real job for adults.
Years later, I became the music director of an alternative rock station called WBRU in Providence, Rhode Island. My job was to program the music that went out over the airwaves. Basically, I was making a continuous mixtape for hundreds of thousands of people. That was pretty cool.
Since then, I've worked on:
Digital music (programming digital radio for Sony when the Walkman was trying to go digital)
Editorial (writing, editing, and podcasting pop culture beyond music from comics to games to movies to tech)
Marketing (to see what it's like on the more business-y side of things)
Video games (mobile and console)
Oh, and I also found some time to live in Austin for business school because that was really fun (and educational!)
